A joke or the truth

While I was walking pass the hospital, I can't stop my hand to reach for the "pick your joke of the day" basket. Today, I got a yellow colour paper that speaks kinda the truth....I swear that guys *yea you guys...as in males* will darn agree with the points. Without further ado, let's get to it:-

Pity the man who isn't aware of these vital elements of female communication.
When a woman is addressing her partner, the following definitions apply:

FINE
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

FIVE MINUTES
If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

NOTHING
This is the calm before the storm. This means "something", and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with "Nothing" usually end in "Fine".

GO AHEAD
This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it.

LOUD SIGH
This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood  by men. A "loud sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing"

THAT'S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistakes.

THANKS
A woman is thanking you.Do not question it or faint. Just say you're welcome.

Now, MALES isn't that so true to you??? And my fellow FEMALES, we all know that some of the above may not apply....ain't it??? *snickers....hahahahaha*

Have a laugh.....that's what life's about ^^

Time of death unknown
skin was dissected and plunged through the gate fence's spear
On another note: My suppose to be "standing" Tacos are no longer standing after being treated in the microwave...Yaya..I know about the water condensation thingy happening in there and thus causing it to be soggy!! I still taste yummy but I just have to eat it with a fork ^.<

still standing Tacos

"Lazy" taco that does not stand and being eaten by MUA with a fork

Phore Season Restaurant

CK decided to give me a surprise 3 month anniversary dinner without letting me know where we are heading for dinner. I was only given the notice/ instruction to “wear nicely” = alternatively means we're heading for a fine dine OR normally I just don't dress up enough *which i am not...wakakakaka*

Apparently, CK as always, did his research and found out that the restaurant has achieved the “Finalist Status in the ITALIAN category 2010 of the Restaurant & Catering SA Natural Gas Awards for Excellence”, not to mention their other achievements throughout the years.

We had decided to go full on with the dinner à which mean a 3 course meal!! I read through the menu and order food that caught my eye and "sounds" delicious *I know you can't hear food....but trust me, they are yelling at YOU---not literally! XD* We wanted to order dessert at the beginning, but the waiter was like "have a go at your food and you can order the dessert later when you know how much space you have left!". THANK GOODNESS we listened to him...hahaha....we were BLOATED! So, we only ordered one dessert to share ^^v

Entrée

Seared Scallops with Salsa Verde
~see how jiucy and succulent the scallops are?? ^^ Totally awesome~

Main

MINE:  'Golden Plains' Pork Belly
~the pork belly is so so tasty with the Italian Spices. The stuffed apple was GOOD STUFF...totally balances off the
fatty-ness of the pork~

CK's:  Duck Ragu Bianco Farfalle
~the chef is really REALLY generous with the meat....you'll feel like you are eating more duck than the pasta ^^~

Dessert

Some chocolate mouse like thing dessert - Forgot the name
~SOOOOOooooo YummY!! It's not too sweet but with a hint of bitter -- exactly the way I like my chocolate desserts to be ^^v~

Wine

2009 Crowded House Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, NZ)
~very soothing wine, easy to drink with a fresh taste~

Some random pictures taken in the restaurant

Beautiful chandelier

~got "tomamo-ey" face after wine >.^~

EXCITING DECISIONS

OMG…I have been off away from the blog-o-sphere for such a long time! I always have tons to blog but never really get my hands on to it. I will post it up one by one. Since, sometimes I may have extra time at work I might as well blog on mua good ol’ Microsoft Office Words.

First, as of recent, I am planning to visit my hometown Malaysia after 4 ½ years. I am expecting to spend LOADS on shopping (well….what cha expect? I am still a girl hei XD). I would also spend a significant amount on food à Malaysian food’s cheap and AWESOME, as in super duper YUMMY!!!

Before I can confirm anything, I have to get a few things done:-
(1)   Book ticket – MAS promofare will end 06/10/2010, have to book before then!!!
(2)   Visa – Since I am not a PR yet, I have to get a travelling visa close to my departure date. (hopefully it’s gonna be granted!)

SICKIE SUCKER

Got so so so sick on sunday >.< Mua fever rage till the temperature of a charming 39.1 degrees Celsius *awsome hey >.<* It felt so bad....I body heat was so high that I start to lose my appetite. I got dizzy and my head felt so heavy! Man, my body was sore and my throat must be inflamed to be in such pain >.<

CK took me out for a plain dinner, but since my body is in a bad shape....I can't eat much and just sat there try to hold my body in one piece. On my way back home, I shred tears.......*mommy.......:'(* I think I scare the hell outta CK though ^.< who in the end took care of me. Thank you so much!

I was on sickie monday (which i should start on my new job but have to call in sick*, I felt ever so weak...sleep most of the day. Till LS came home and cooked me porridge as my lunch+breakfast+tea *I was so quiet that she didn't know I was at home* Thank you so much LS!!!!

Today, am feeling so much better. HOWEVER, my voice started to change and I am still having my sore sore throat >.< So, I can't talk much today.....So people, when HY is quiet = HY sick! Simple as that...hahahaa ^^ *sob......pain*

Grumpy abdomen

Am having a grumpy tummy now.....feel so heavy and as if it's churning *note: I don't have diarrhoea*

GAH...........calm calm...I need sweet stuffs like chocolate!! *hunts for chocky!*

My FIRST ever BEER

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!! *exclaimed!!*

I have my 1st ever EVER beer in my entire 24 years *shocked?* Don't be shocked, I am just a typical GOOD girl ^^ *hehehehe*

I had my 1st every beer *see....I kept stressing that it's my FIRST beer XD* at Belgium Beer Bar on the 9/8/2010 with a bunch of buddies. The beers was 9% in alcohol level and the name is....*drum rolls....* WESTMALLE TRIPLE!

Westmalle Triple

What's my two cents worth of thoughts:-
(a) OMG.......I still don't like the taste of beer but this is far far far better then Carlsberg
(b) I reacted funnily towards that glass of beer.....I felt like my head is gonna start spinning BUT having said that
I react much better with wine with like what 13-15% of alcohol! *I think I should classify myself as part beer
     allergic >.<*
(c) Wines are FAR better than beer....but some beers can be quiet easy drinking!

So, the next time I visit Belgium Beer Cafe again....I WANT TO TRY the Chocolate Beer--> Floris Chocolate (4.2% alc) ^.^v

Quick Updates!

Hei guys *to those who actually read my blog and crap!*

Heaps of stuffs happened ever since the last time I blogged *which was like.....er......2 1/2 months ago >.<*! Well, within the blank period I did quite some travelling i.e: to Mt. Gambier, Pt. Pirie and Clare Valley. The trips were awesome and my and my new found love (my canon S90) took tons of pictures. I have recently like to take macro pictures be it food or objects. I will post some up soon *you know....soon ^.<*

Well, I suppose since it's been so exposed on FB that yea....I have a BF now. Things are changing and sometimes I need to take time to get used to it. I USED to be alone *not that I am emo or what-so-ever*, it's because I am the only child and I make decisions myself. That fella has been CREEPING into my life ever since the 19/06/2010. Damn that day he scare the crap outta me, causing me to loose appetite for the whole week *you reading this???? YOU YOU YOU.....gotta be sorry* Oh what can I say? Writing this incident of the blog is to mark the existence of the date and you!

Well....I don't know what else to say! Just crap what's in my head and ya! Will write often ^^

NO HOT WATER!!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOooooooo.................The worst thing that can happen during cold autumn/winter nights is that there's NO HOT WATER!!!! Hot water is the staple thing during cold weathers to keep me warm and fuzzy! Alright, I have been showering okay, if that's what you are thinking! I have been showering using the ancient method, and I am pretty sure that kids this days don't do it anymore : )

Boil water ->put it in a big bucket -> mix with adequate cold water to make it warm -> use a small bucket to scoop the water for shower!

On wednesday night, I went swimming. After swimming, I went to have my shower and GLAD AS HEAVEN I was to have hot water shower straight away!!! We've been taking for granted the convenience that we now have......save water people!

Okay...I think I am done rambling! I shall shut up and keep boiling water ^.^
*camwhore while boiling water XP*

Wirra Wirra - Church Block - 2008

Had the feeling of getting a bottle of red during the cool weathers to warm myself up. Been thinking about that for the past 2 years. Finally, today I got a bottle Wirra Wirra's Church Block 2008 wine. It's a blend of reds. I have been told by my colleague that if you wanna know if a winery is good, you got to try their blends. I was also given the information that Church Block is a MUST TRY, so I coincidently saw it and I just bought it.

My critic:
*NOTE: Disclaimer, I am not good/experience wine taster....am a noob that just enjoy low amount of wine in my own way*

- The wine is very well blend
- Smooth
- It's a fruity wine
- Since, it's a blend it's not dry like Shiraz *which I like anyway*

It's a good wine for starters to try, nothing too heavy! Personally, I am loving the wine just like how I fell in love with pinot gris the 1st time I drink it!

Colours of Vesak - A momento -

After more than half a year of preparation and 3 months of hardcore practices, the debut of "Colours of Vesak" on the 22nd of May 2010 in Norwood Concert Hall was a success!! We received thunderous applause and tons of congratulative words....it was a memorable event. However, I still feel that it's not done YET! There's still this feeling at the back of my mind that, we'll still have practice this saturday from 8am - 4pm.

For those who don't know what this event is about, the play was done in conjunction with the celebration of the annual Vesak Day Celebration - the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha. This festival is largely celebrated in the asian countries as well as in some western countries. In adelaide, the SA Zhu Lin Buddhist Association cum RuShi Buddhist Youth Group celebrated the event with another style this year -> a drama depicting the Life of the Buddha in ancient Indian era.

I hereby would like to take the opportunity to thank the whole crew!! Thank you for your hard work *studying during rehearsals*; thank you for your commitment and cooperation; thank you for the fun and joy; thank you for the bond of friendship that has never been there or else stronger than ever!! Organizing such an event hosting for over 400 spectators is no easy job. There are tons of naggings *I know I did...as well as from other people*, tons of spamming emails... ... etc! However, it's worth everything as it's now part of our memory that would last the the last days of my life *I am pretty sure in those who have participated as well as those who watched!!*!!

A great thanks for my bunch of great committee members, working with you guys have never been better. Sorry if I have been invasive in anyways.....thanks so much for the hardwork! Loved the props, costumes and sound effects!!! Too much to thank that I can't put it in words...well you know!!

Many people have been asking for the DVD on the concert, just a heads up: IT'S ON ITS WAY........it's coming to town really soon~ I will be one of the 1st who will lay my hands on it!! Can't wait to watch it ^.^ The spectator enjoyed the drama while we were frantically changing backstage....I wanna watch!! I WANT I WANT!!!! *huff puff huff puff....calm calm*

Okay, I will place in another entry with picture for momento and jazz up the whole blog! Till then,

Sick Lappie!

I have recently received complains that I have not been updating my blog like FOREVER!!! Well, I have a really good reason for the laziness....seriously I DO!! Let me tell you the all-so-wonderful-story-of-mua-sick-lappie!

On a wonderful day last week, I found out that my lappie is lagging...I somehow suspected it's just some startup error, just like headache in humans. So, I decided to restart it. However, it FAILED me again >.< Out of desperateness, I thought of my "daddy" and sms him to help me diagnos mua poor lil new lappie. So, in the avo, I brought lappie to meet up with "daddy". Under the tender hands of "daddy" and his mates, "daddy" said that it's not my programs problem, it will most probably be mua lappies internal organs failure, and he suggested that I should bring my lappie to the hands of the professionals ----> the Hospital!

Well, since mua lappie is a young lad *less than 6 months old* it will be under warranty. So, on monday I called up the Hospital and book in a time. They just told me to bring it in any time and they will look at it. With that, I brought in my lappie on tuesday evening and spoke to the IT techies there. The inital speculation of diagnosis that is mua lappie's hard disk is having a heamorrage. Since, mua lappie was bought in Malaysia, they will have to request for parts and replace it.

To date, I have yet to received any calls that mua lappie is saved and safe to leave the Hospital! I called up the Hospital today, they say they are having final checks on mua lappie...I just hope that mua lappie can leave the NICU *neonatal intensive care unit* soon without a scratch *boooohoooooo*

I MISS YOU LAPPIE......COME BACK TO MAMA SOON!!!!!!!!

DNAs and Skin Biopsies

It's been quiet a while since I've updated my blog, anyways it harms no one as I keep it as my memoir and also to practice my sucky english!

What have I been up to since morning till now?? I've been preping skin cell cultures from skin biopsies...COOL eh?! All I need to do is to:

(1) take zee skin outta its container
(2) cut it into mush
(3) place zee mush into a culturing flask
(4) allow some time for zee mush to stick onto see flask
(5) add culturing medium
(6) chuck zee flask with zee medium into zee incubator and wait for the magical cells to grow!

Other than that, I am preping DNA from cells as well....er....am actually doing it right NOW! Currently waiting for some incubation time to pass...*waiting.....* Hopefully, I can get large amounts of DNA outta it!

Alrighty, times up.....DNA time ^.^

Boredom

*so me...my colleagues are away in a way*

Since morning, except from 8:30 - 10:30a.m. which I did Mycoplasma testing, I am doing nothing other than browsing the net as well as doing some light reading on inherited metabolic diseases.

This is my 1st time sitting in the lab with nothing to do. The main reason is that the ISO people (officials who give accredidations to laboratories) came to access the lab today. So, nobody has free time to coach the unexperience me on the diagnostic bench *bored!!!!*

Thank goodness I am being brought up in the environment of the only daughter, so I can entertain myself. But, it's getting abit off handed now *hence, am blogging for no reason* Someone please come along and get me on some experiment *shouts*.

YAWN....ok, back to work!

Uyghur Restaurant

Today, lay sim and I went to Uyghur Restaurant on Prospect Road approximately bus stop 20 to have our dinner. It's a small family run business. However, they have alot of customers mainly people for XinJiang P.R.C. *Well, normally if you see locals-as in their own people, eating at their own hometown restaurant then it should be good right?!!*

This is our second time there and we ordered the Uyghur Kebab, homemade noodle dish with capsicum and chicken (forgot what's the name- start with a g) and uyghur milk tea.

OMG--->> the kebab was ABSOLUTELY delicious!!! Once you eat it you will be hit by the spices, yummy!!!!! Can't stop smiling while eating!

The noodles was great as well! The homemade laghman was so Q...YUMM!!

On the table, they provide a lil pot of chili and the chili was SO GOOD....maybe cuz I love LOVE the garlic taste in it...OMPH!

The milk tea (top picture)--> Initially, I though it was just a normal milk that you and I can even brew it at home. After drinking half the pot, I tasted some sourness in it. I thought I was the only one and suspect it was the taste of my sweat. During the trip home, lay sim and I were both discussing and then it hit us that it was the tea which is sour. The taste is like the Aryan (bottom picture) *homemade Uyghur yogurt drink* which we orders the 1st time we went *in which they sold out today! >.<>

So, the most important think is how do I score the food and the restaurant:

atmosphere: 7/10 *it's kinda uyghur looking but not too sophisticated*
food: 9/10
service: 9/10

Will I recommend it to my friends?

HELL YEA!!

Paranoid?

After work today, when I board my trusty G10 bus, I saw this "weird" guy. I should probably not call him weird as he may have some trauma in life.

Why would I say so?

It's because, when I board the bus *at least in front of me* he was cupping his groin!!!!!!! FOR HEAVENS SAKE, who would cover up their groin in the bus? I cannot help but think that this guy may have suffered from past experiences that tell him to hide his groin from ppl boarding the bus as they may hit you THERE!

I was trying hard to hid my laughter that I have to concentrate so hard on my mp3 player...*hahahaha*.

So guys, do you do that as well? Just curious.....it must be a god damed experience that he must have gone through.....

Cornflake Cookies

During CNY I made cornflake cookies, as it was the tradition at home that we make new year biscuits for new year~ The process of make the cornflake cookies was funny as Lay sim was baking as well so we got 6 blocks of butter...a holly 6 blocks!! Never ate or bought that many in one go in 23 years of my life! I got this idea of writing the recipe up here by sumin *arigato!!* Since many were asking for it...will post up the lemon cheese cake recipy later!

Ingredients:
Plain flour 400g
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Butter 350g
Caster sugar 200g
Egg 2
Vanilla essence 2 drops
Cornflake lightly crushed accordingly (a medium size box will be more than enough)

Things that you need:
Baking sheets *if you don't you will have to line your baking tray with butter*
Baking trays
*remember to get the ones that would suit the size of your oven.....just got to know recently that there are different sizes of ovens and different sizes of trays to suit. CUZ I got a larger tray
thinking that I can back faster......sigh...it was too big for my oven!! So, the new tray is currently sitting in the pantry doing nothing.*
Mixer
Balance
Measuring cups/spoons
Mixing bowl
Spatula
Container/bowl *to put crushed cornflakes...personally, I prefer a box with flat bottom*
Sieve

Protocol (XD)
1. Cream Butter and sugar till light and fluffy
2. Add in the eggs and vanilla essence and continue beating till blend
3. Fold in the sieved flour and baking powder *this means: you have to use your hand to mix the flour and batter light handedly*

Now you have the dough. Mind you that the dough will not be as hard as a cake dough!

4. Roll the dough into lil balls *approximately the size of a 20 cents(Oz size)*
5. Then, roll the ball dough into the crushed cornflakes coating the batter.
6. Place the dough onto the baking tray *pre-lined* and flat it out a little. Remember to leave some space in between the dough as it will get bigger during baking.
7. Bake at 180°C for approximately 20 minutes *the backing time vary with the type of oven
you have. DO NOT use too high a temperature as the cookie will not be cooked and
it will burn!!!!!!!*

TADAAA.....you now have your cookies!!! Let it cool before placing the cookies into containers ^.^

Hope you enjoy the recipe!!

The Future European English

European English :

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility..
>
As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as 'Euro-English'.
>
> In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favour of 'k'. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome 'ph' will be replaced with 'f'. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

> In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan
be expekted to reach the stage where! more komplikated changes are possible.
>
> Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.
>

Head Spinning!!!

Hei peps!!!

It's been a long time ever since I updated mua blog. So, this is my 1st blog entry in 2010!!!

Just to let those who read my blog that I am very very busy these days. I am having my head thrown into so many ponds in a day.....God knows!! Having a busy hit start in the year 2010 should be a sign of prosperity?? *hehehehe......hopefully!!*

Well, am currently having brains casting around the Chinese New Year celebration in the temple. We are having so many preps and need heaps of ppl to help out...SHOUT out to me if you are in Adelaide and you think you can help!!

Other than that, having to brain storm out Concert Night - Colours of Vesak. Gosh........that's a big BIG task!! Have to seriously put more and more effort BUT not neglecting my job and sleep! Sometimes, the stress will wake me up in the middle of the night.....woa..the next day when I need to perform experiments, it's HELL on earth man!!!

Oh oh OH!!! Recently, my research group have found a mini breakthrough that is so so SO interesting my lab, maybe not to others. Let's pray that this year round, we can get funding so that we can perform more experiments to help the ppl out there with AIDS and those who are HIV infected!!!

Okok......time for bed!!! Nights....!
